I spend much of my time figuring out cool ways to wear things I already own. It’s an added boost of creativity in the morning when I look at myself and say “Well! I had no idea that could work with this!” or “Cool! This scarf is a cinch belt now!” The above dress allows for more versatility than I originally thought because of the yellow blocked detail. I therefore find myself wanting to wear it…all the time. While I think there have been some pretty awesome experimental outcomes, none have been more gratifying then this pair. Adding colors to the dress in the first look made it pop given that it’s mostly neutral. I had just bought those green tailored trousers at J Crew on sale and thought they’d be so perfect with the yellow! Originally the dress was going to sit on top of the pants but I had the strangest idea to tuck it in and tug it out some to still reveal some of the yellow. Experiments always lead to the best revelations, now I KNOW I can use this dress as a blouse. With the exception of yesterday we’ve had an eerily beautiful week here in Kansas City. I was excited to be sleeveless and not shivering in January. The zebra print shoes are a nice interruption from all the solids that give the outfit a little something extra.

Takeaway: Bright colors in winter are A OKAY in my book.
