Last week I got to play model for my friend Anjana. Anjana Olson is a photographer from Iowa City who’s just recently moved to Kansas City. She hopes to build her business Lavender & Lime to new heights and I have no doubt it’ll happen! She had a vision for our shoot and saw it through with such meticulous execution. When I take pictures, I tend to just go with what I see, Anjana on the flip side (and I believe this comes with being a professional) has such clear direction, from where my hand is, to where my eyes are, to where the light hits, to how the fabric hangs. I was truly impressed and learned a lot along the way. I even got to hand with her cat! Still waiting on him to completely warm to me. We’re working on it…taking it day by day. He goes by Fiasco (appropriate). Looking forward to more fun collabos with the pair. Our recent craft night was a little more productive on her end this past weekend, but I’m sure with more nails…and…focus (the season premiere of Downtown Abbey was on!) I’ll be finishing my nail art project soon!
While yes, Anjana is a friend, and I want to promote her on several platforms, there’s a lot of aspirational style cues to take from this shoot. Without really even thinking about it, the texture, the colors, and patterns came to be representative my style choices everyday! If loads of exuberant colors aren’t your thing, mix up patterns, and textures, put a jean jacket over a silk print, or pair tweed with velvet, who knows!
I’m thrilled with how everything turned out, so thank you Anjana for letting me be a part of your vision and also finding a beautiful way to highlight my individual sensibility. You can see how TRULY resourceful and creative Anjana is by reading more of her own post about the shoot and following her blog here!!: http://www.lavenderandlimestudio.com/sometimes-what-you-have-is-just-enough/
